International GDP Growth

Comparison of GDP growth in various countries, and the factors which correlate (or inversely correlate) to changes in a country’s GDP. Extensive use of Tableau.

Based on publicly available historical GDP data of the countries in question, we can compare the GDP growth of several countries side-by-side. Now that we can see these differences, the question arises, what causes them?

As seen here, GDP per capita ideally increases over time in a given country. The rate of growth varies.

Why do some countries have different rates of GDP growth than others? There is no singular “correct” answer, however, it may be helpful to search for potential correlation between widely-known economic indicators in order to form a hypothesis. For the purposes of this section, we will be taking the angle of the United States with the aim of improving US economic growth.

We can then measure US GDP growth against the following:

  • US Unemployment

  • US Inflation

  • US Government Debt
